If you're unsure about what to book for the festival season, you've come to the right place. The top 5 events to go to this summer are listed below:
1. Bulgaria's "Meadows in the Mountains," June 1–5,
Meadows in the Mountains, one of Bulgaria's best-kept secrets, is currently in its eleventh year. The festival is held in the valleys and plains of the country's Rhodope Mountains, an unspoiled natural area 850 metres above sea level and just a short distance from the Greek border. It includes four performance stages, art installations, and a wellness programme that emphasises ceremonies and healing traditions from Bulgaria and Thrace.
2. Spain's "Primavera Sound Madrid," June 8–11
Primavera Sound, one of the biggest festivals in the area that was first held in Barcelona, will make its first appearance in Madrid this year with its stages and crowd. The event promotes environmental sustainability; the stages and other on-site amenities are powered by solar energy, and as of 2019, it is committed to gender equality by using a 50/50 pronoun in the lineups. This year's performers include Kendrick Lamar, LoyleCarner, Channel Tres, Depeche Mode, and Rosala.
3. UK's "Wilderness" -- August 3-7
Four days of musical performances, lectures, exhibits, dining out, and outdoor pursuits. The Chemical Brothers, Fat Boy Slim, Sugababes, Honey Dijon, and other notable performers will make the 2023 edition stand out, along with the DIY fashion workshop provided by the Victoria & Albert Museum Academy, the Haus of Fatale cabaret, and panels with Lloyd Griffith and Munroe Bergdorf, among others.
4. Canada's Montreal hosts the International Jazz Festival from June 29 to July 8.
With two million attendees over the course of the nine-day event, the International Jazz Festival de Montréal, presently in its 43rd year, is the largest jazz event in the world. Get lost in the city's Quartier des Spectacles this year to enjoy some of the best concerts by international artists, like Diana Krall, Thundercat, Vance Joy, Christine and the Queens, and many more.
5. British Columbia Club Festival
The Cambridge Club Festival is a three-day dancing and exploration festival that takes place in Childerley Orchard, Cambridge. With a focus on mind, body, and spirit wellness, a live comedy, chat, and podcast lineup in the Auditorium of Intrigue, after-hours parties in the Discovery Den, private areas to unwind away from festival crowds, and headliners Lionel Richie, Grace Jones, and Kool&The Gang, this year's edition is not to be missed.
